Freud's division of psyche:  superego, ego, id
   personal unconscious vs. Jung's collective unconscious
myths:  an elaborate system of stories and symbols that orient us to all dimensions of reality- up(sky, thinking, Zeus), out(city, sensation, Athena, extroverted), down(Dionysys, earth, feeling), and in(mind, intuition, Demeter, intorverted)
Campbell:  a dream is a personalized myth, a myth is a depersonalized dream
transpersonal- it's not all about you
3 parts of myth:  beginnings, middles(men, women, and war), ends
Eleusis- Calasso ch.7-something said, done, shown
Campbell's monomyth-the hero's journey, Oedipus meets most requirements
Ananke- necessity
group 1:  fire goddess of Hawaii, volcano, life and death cycle
group2:  white buffalo calf woman gave the tribe ceremonial pipe that represented the 4 cycles and direction, a culture bringer
group 3:  Inana and Dumuzi, summerian story, first love story, chose farmer over milkman
group 4:  Au Co, the sky goddess, vietnamese story "A taste of earth"
group5:  Kali beheaded, fits all four archetypes
group 6:  Gnostic story, sophia(wisdom) was original power
